The Municipality of Kayapa through the Municipal Health Office was awarded Municipality of the Year during the 2nd Southern Blood Service Zone Sandugo Recognition And Awarding Ceremony at the 3K Hotel, Santiago City, Isabela last October 14, 2022.

The municipality was able to sustain a high percentage of voluntary blood donations amounting to 1,003 blood bags for the year 2020-2021. Barangay Acacia was also recognized Outstanding Barangay for having a total of 107 blood donors in the barangay for the same year.

The Sandugo Recognition and Awarding Ceremony is an activity conducted by the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP) under the Department of Health (DOH). It is the highest award given to local government units, officials, organizations, and individuals for supporting the voluntary blood donation program.

The NVBSP is a program that administers policy and standards on blood banking in the Philippines based on Republic Act 7719 also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994. It is an act promoting Voluntary Blood Donation, providing for an adequate supply of safe blood, regulating blood banks, and providing penalties for violations thereof.
